The Wild Beat began as my first long-form field journal — a collection of early stories, reflections, and field reports. These essays trace my original efforts to give voice to what I was seeing and feeling in the field. I keep this archive as a record of those creative beginnings, more lengthy in style, a little less edited, more stream of consciousness … distinct but driven by the same curiosity and passion that informs my work today.
